I hope he's happy there, as he appears to be a student living alone (the resident in that apartment changes a few times a year), and I think I've heard him speaking Japanese on a phone call, which suggests he's not only alone but is also possibly a very long way from home, which can be tough.
I could be happy there.... (sighs).... if only....
