words and pics about living and raising a child in Venice
What a lovely contrast to the pouring rain, and overall greyness here in Britain today! Wish we were there in your picture.
We've gotten some hard rain here in recent days, Ella, but only one day remained cloudy throughout. In fact, it seems many of the showers seem so considerate as to visit only at night, allowing the day to be sunny. I don't think that will last forever though.
At what age are children able to take a boat without adult supervision? Do they have restrictions on where they may row?
That's a really good question. I don't know the official age for rowing alone. I do know that for driving a boat here it's 16. And because it's 16, our 12 year old son, who's adept at both rowing a boat and driving one, has said he wished we had a sandolo (a small Venetian row boat) so he could legally take it out by himself or with a friend when he wanted. And if we did have such a boat I think he could get away with doing so whatever the official age is, as he handles a boat very well and is only about an inch shorter, if that, than the average adult. Of course, I don't think I'd let him row without me along...
