Thank you, Auvraisien. It took me 8 years to realize that as beautiful as the light was that evening in color--I know you can picture the oranges and blues of late afternoon in early spring on the water--the sunlight's warm glow was actually obscuring facial details, and even details of the hand, that I most wanted to be visible. And that's how the image finally became b/w after years of dissatisfaction...
