At least it wasn't what i saw the other day... and, come to think of it, on many other occasions, a tableful of people, nominally all out together, and ALL lost in their own smartphones! They may as well have been on different continents.
Alas, a common sight, Ella. It always reminds me of the earliest play dates of our son, before he could even walk, when he and his friends were capable only of what they call "parallel play"--side-by-side, but not really interacting, each absorbed in his or her own world. For all their technical sophistication our devices help us to revert to earliest childhood.
