The Extraordinary Ordinary

I haven't had the time to write the third and last post on Marx at the Biennale and, so, instead, post the above image, snapped the other day on a drab morning in the midst of running errands. It's a route I take on a regular basis, from Campo San Provolo to Campo Santa Maria Formosa, noticing who knows what? Most likely--entirely lost in my own thoughts--very little. This is always a mistake: perhaps anywhere, but especially here.

  1. That's my favorite part of Venice, I've stayed in Palazzo Priuli in 2012, in Hotel Scandinavia two years later. This dedication is in Russian but you can see the photos: http://sashha.livejournal.com/1207145.html

    1. I was actually standing on the Ponte Storto right in front of the Casa Verardo Hotel--which I just had to find on Googlemaps as I've never paid any attention to its actual name before. The bridge is between Calle Sacrestia and Calle Castagna (on the latter of which, inside a small door, is an iron works workshop sometimes open that I've been tempted to take a pic of). I love your pic of the pointy building beside the Ponte di Diavolo. And that campiello behind Palazzo Priuli is one of the cutest in the area, with the wine bar on the corner I've never been to.

    1. Thanks for telling me, Bert, I will have to try to spot it. So many of buildings are uncleaned in that film it's almost like a different city. I suppose it was actually a different city: one with industry and actual Venetians still living in it.
