Just a short way from the heavily-trafficked Rio Terrà Foscarini route between the Zattere and L'Accademia, Piscina Sant' Agnese was completely quiet yesterday just before 7 pm: a nice retreat for anyone who, like me, is a sucker for reds and oranges in all their weather-worn appeal (to which I'm afraid these photos don't do justice).
Bon week-end
Danielle
I'm sorry I did not see your post before--I think your photos are beautiful. I'm afraid that I have had a hard enough time putting together my own blog lately that I have not kept up with my favorite blogs by others.
DeleteNow that I look at your blog I also see that you have posted photos of another place that I took photos of on the same day I was in Piscina Sant' Agnese. I must link to your post of Calle del Navaro.
You may know this place featured in "Summertime". The short scene was shot at two different times of day, as can be deduced from the shadows. Woody Allen's film "Everyone Says I Love You" also has a scene here. I cannot claim any credit for this, I got it all from aloverofvenice.com.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know this had been a location in any films, but aloverofvenice.com certainly gives a great account of its cinematic history--thanks for the link. It's interesting to see how much more muted were the colors of the buildings even in the Woody Allen film.
DeleteAn independent bookstore I managed in NYC appears in the Allen film also--3 nannies w/ strollers sing before its awning (I had to go in quite early to raise the window's grill for filming)--but I never cared for the film itself. Perhaps I should watch it again simply for the Venice part; though I don't know if I can bear the embarrassing Woody Allen/Julia Roberts romance.
Today I found you nice Venice-Blog, and I'm very happy about this! We spent 5 days in Venice last week, and it was so beautiful, to be there once again, after more than 18 years. You must be very happy, to live there! Now I'll start to show some of my ( abot 300 ;-D )photos in my new Venice Blog. I don't want, that they vanish into my laptop for the next years... Have a nice and happy time, and, shurley I'll follow your Blog once in a while. Best regards, Julika
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to learn of your blog, Julika, and am happy you have so many photos to post from just 5 days here. I think the ones you've posted so far are beautiful on http://venezia12.blogspot.it/.
DeleteWhen you have posted all of them you will of course have to return to take more!
