Wonderful pic! Magnificent harmony of colors. Nearly no ripple. Probably absolute silence. A fairytale night. You are very lucky sailing so on the lagoon by a quiet summer night. Thanks for this post.
I'm glad you like it, Auvraisien, and you're right, any night we can get out into the lagoon is a good night. (Though it's best to keep the boat moving for a certain period just as night falls to avoid being feasted on by mosquitoes.)
We've had some very hot days this month--not surprising for August, really--but more troublesome than the heat has been the very poor air quality, which has been pretty frequent (and to the level that warnings have been issued for those spending time outside).
Every insect that flies simply loves to feast on me! Last time I was in Venice when it was warm .... not my best choice - I came back with bites that were still evident and itchy six weeks later, despite being smothered in repellent!
Itchy and evident bites after 6 weeks are no joking matter, Ella, I can hardly tolerate the persistent effects of Venice's tiger-striped mosquitoes more than 20 minutes, but your apparently magnetic attraction to such pests might make you an very popular boating companion, as they'd probably leave everyone else aboard alone.

DeleteReally brilliant, rich, intense image. I do so deeply wish I could be there, even though I'm not happy in warm weather! (sighs)

DeleteDo you know, strangely, that doesn't fill me with enthusiasm for the experience? I'll not take you up on that kind invitation, sadly.
ReplyDeleteIn some situations here it seems that short of covering oneself in mosquito netting nothing will keep safe from those bloodthirsty things.
