Sorry for the late reply, but as Ella B noted below, it is a sandolo, and it's being rowed "alla valesana" (ie, with 2 oars), rather than "alla veneta" (1 oar, like a gondolier).
Rowing had just started to be allowed again at the time this image was taken, after having been prohibited along with most other outdoor activity for some weeks.
Just look at the two of them sitting there, smiling. It's a dog's life.
