Steven, I. Love the picture. A few years ago I was in a quiet boat at that or similar site(Laguna south of Giudecca?). I visited the rest of the Venice lagoon and realized it was my place on Earth.
Thanks, John, I really liked the image you linked to. I guess there are structures like this in the south lagoon, too, but this one was actually north of Torcello. I have yet to venture very far south in the lagoon, but look forward to doing so. And, yes, indeed, the lagoon is a very unique place, and an interesting combination of nature and human interventions (though not always for the best, alas).
Of a dreamy place at that particular time on that particular day--like everywhere else in the lagoon, as you certainly know, Yvonne, the sense of it can change so dramatically!
