Oh, what a fantastic photo. The banner is wonderful too. I'd really love to be in Venice for this festa someday. What a great tradition. I've seen photos of those big San Martino cookies they make -very cool.
Ah, the big cookies--some of them are very big indeed. There was another celebration of S Martino Friday night that involved kids walking around with lighted lanterns--as is more common in N European countries--but Sandro was not feeling well enough to attend. He didn't even actually make it through all of Thursday'x daytime festivities...
And, yes, Yvonne, especially in the narrow calli, it can be gratifyingly noisy.
