Chiaroscuro: Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, This Afternoon
We're back in Venice for the first time since we moved (regrettably) almost exactly 3 years ago today, after having lived here full-time for nearly 11. Operating on very little sleep, but wanted to post something. More to follow.
Only just caught up with your return to Venice for a while. Hope you really enjoy it, that whatever you didn't want to change there has NOT changed, and whatever you wished would change has indeed changed. Apart from the time of year, when I never want to be there - I'm a cool temperate maritime sort of person, usually visit autumn and winter - I'm still envious of you. Enjoy it.
Thanks, Ella. It was a nice visit, though I ended up getting Covid, which wasn't fun, and which I did not get while we were actually living there when Covid was at its worst. But otherwise, interesting and strange to be back--and, sadly, the changes I noticed were not for the better. Maybe I'll get to a couple of them on blog eventually.
