Last night I was one of the lucky 200 to snag a ticket for the sold-out one-night-only engagement of
Love in Shakespeare at Teatro Ca' Foscari, an evening of sonnets and scenes in Chinese, Italian, Japanese and Spanish with Italian supertitles.
It was a project of Ca' Foscari's Professor Jimmy Lam and his Chinese language and translation students which, in addition to being a really fascinating and entertaining night of theatre, doubled as their final exam.
They aced it.

Teatro Ca' Foscari a Santa Marta is a small professional-grade contemporary theater west of San Nicolò dei Mendicoli, and a wonderful place to see a performance.
Would you care to let us in on how you achieved the strobe effect, Steve?
ReplyDeletePassively, is how I achieved it. And by accident. I was hoping that any single burst of the theatre strobe stage light would be enough to allow me to get a pic that stopped the action--as when I photographed the Redentore fireworks. But those fireworks were much brighter than the strobe so my 35 mm on a RAW but automated setting just left the shutter open for a long period (4"). Which turned out to look kind of interesting, so rather than try to set it manually for the next pics I just took a couple more in the same way.
