A beautiful city is Siracusa, but as this is a Venice blog I can now share the sensation of missing La Serenissima along with absent others. Will your tenure in Venice end before the next blooming of the wisteria? Your post has a sense of loss.
ReplyDeleteNo, Anonymous, we don't have any plans to leave Venice, though you're right in your sensitive reading of tone. Probably the after-effects of too much reading of John Keats... And more particularly of the sense I get from the wisteria here that it's always on the verge of blooming even more completely, only to find instead that it's done and withering.
