For example, I don't know that any information on what a shop might sell your lace for here in Venice would actually help you to know what you might sell it for where you live. (And I don't know a shop that could provide that information from a distance anyway.) I might suggest instead that you see whether there is an antique shop--ideally 2 or 3--in the area where you live that sells lace or that type of item and see what they say about its value. I think, in other words, you might start locally to get an idea, as that's where you'll be selling it, and something is worth only what people are willing to pay, rather than some absolute value unaffected by local context. Or, less locally, you might do a search on ebay for something like "vintage Venetian lace" and see what comes up. Or google "Venetian lace" images and see if you come upon any image that resembles your piece of lace. At least those would be some starting points. Good luck. Steven Varni, aka Sig. (I bought a very large size, in Venice in 1976, for $700 US and would like to know how to tell, please. I am older now, and not having either a daughter or daughter-in-law to pass it down to, I'm contemplating selling it and would very much appreciate having a real sales price, as though it were purchased NOW in Venice. I will reduce it for sale to a more reasonable price for buyers. But would like to know it's value. Thank you ahead for any assistance provided. Christine Luewen (You will have to FB the message as I do not have an e-mail account. These days my e-mail was inundated with 95% sales pitches, and my friends and I now all communicate through FB messaging. Again, thank you.)dagsblondiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00380701808022142721noreply@blogger.com
